Three Fun Technological Features In The 2019 Honda Insight

Honda Insight

In 1999, the Insight debuted as Honda’s first-ever hybrid. At the time, the futuristic car was at the forefront of modern technology – and it still is today. The current, third-generation model is one of the most advanced vehicles on the road. And it’s available now at Honda of Clear Lake.

The top three tech features found in the Honda Insight

The Honda Insight is loaded with the latest technology, which makes choosing the top tech features difficult. But three attributes stand out above all else: the two-motor hybrid system, the Honda Sensing Suite and the 8-inch touch screen multimedia center.

1. Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) two-motor hybrid system

Of course, the most impressive piece of technology aboard the Honda Insight is the hybrid powertrain. For maximum efficiency, the design features a 1.5L Atkinson-style gasoline engine paired with two electric motors. A lithium-ion battery pack provides energy storage duties. Altogether, the system puts out 151 hp and 197 lb.-ft, while also boosting the 2019 Honda Insight MPG figures to new levels.

Another impressive feature is the selectable drive modes. Drivers can choose between Sport mode (for maximum performance) and ECON mode (for optimum efficiency).

2. Honda Sensing Suite

The Insight comes standard with the Honda Sensing Suite. Inside the bundle, you’ll find the latest driver assistance features including:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking: automatically helps bring the car to a stop when a frontal collision is inevitable.
  • Road Departure Mitigation: provides automated steering and braking assistance to help the driver keep the car both on the road and within its lane.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control: helps the driver maintain a set driving distance behind other vehicles when traveling on the highway.
  • Lane Keeping Assist: makes minor steering adjustments as needed to help the car stay within its lane.

3. Fully-loaded 8-inch touchscreen multimedia center

The Insight’s 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system (available on EX and Touring Models) is far more than just a radio – it’s a multimedia center. First and foremost, the display provides access to entertainment, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Honda's satellite-linked Navigation is also available through the unit.

But there’s more. The multimedia center provides access to Honda LaneWatch – a feature that uses a camera inside the passenger-side exterior mirror to display a view of the roadway. Also, when the driver is backing up, the touchscreen display broadcasts footage from the multi-angle rearview camera.
