After a long hiatus, the Honda Passport has finally returned as an all-new model. The modern version of the legendary SUV offers a unique blend of on-road comfort and off-road capability. Five-passenger seating and V6 power further enhance the package. Best of all, you can get the 2019 Honda Passport right now, at Honda of Clear Lake in League City.

The 2019 Honda Passport

Much like the people of Texas, the Honda Passport can handle just about anything. For 2019, the capable SUV is offered in four trim levels: Sport, EX-L, Touring and Elite. Each provides a unique set of attributes, so there’s a perfect match for nearly everyone.

Design

The 2019 Honda Passport certainly looks the part of an off-road warrior, thanks to its aggressive grille, generous ground clearance (1.1 inches on all-wheel drive models) and standard 20-inch wheels. LED headlight accents with gloss black trim a dual chrome exhaust tips also add to the appeal.

Much like the exterior, the inside of the Passport is full of thoughtful touches. Up to five passengers can enjoy amenities such as available leather upholstery and multiple USB ports. Meanwhile, a hands-free power tailgate provides access to the spacious cargo area. Power-folding rear seats are also available.

Underneath it all, the Passport is built on Honda’s venerable Global Light Truck platform. The undercarriage, which is shared with the Pilot SUV and Ridgeline Pickup, is based on a rigid unibody construction for reduced weight and increased safety.

Capability

The 2019 Honda Passport performs great on pavement – thanks to its MacPherson strut front suspension and multilink independent rear suspension – and it’s equally as impressive off-road. Adventure-ready power comes from a 3.5L V6 engine (280 hp, 262 lb.-ft.) backed by a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Front-wheel drive is standard on all models. Buyers wanting maximum capability, however, should opt for Honda's available i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system. The exclusive technology uses active torque vectoring to distribute force to all four wheels for unmatched traction and handling. Also, all Passport models come with Intelligent Traction Management (ITM) that allows drivers to fine-tune the SUV to its surroundings.

Altogether, the robust underpinnings provide the all-wheel drive passport with a 5,000 lb. towing capacity when properly equipped. Front-wheel drive models are plenty capable as well, sporting a 3,500 lb. tow rating.*

Technology and safety

Modern buyers crave technology – and the Honda Pilot delivers with an array of world-class options. To start, there’s a touch screen media center with integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Drivers will also enjoy the Thin Film Transistor (TFT) instrument cluster display.

Perhaps most notable of all, is the Honda sensing suite of advanced safety features that comes standard on all models. In the bundle, buyers get Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. Furthermore, all Passport’s get a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with overhead "bird's eye" view.
