Don’t Rush Into Things - The 2019 Honda Passport in Clear Lake vs. The Chevrolet Equinox

We know buying a new car is exciting, especially when it’s the 2019 Honda Passport in Clear Lake! But this is a process where having patience pays off, because the more you compare, the more confident you are in your decision and happier overall. Since this process can be tedious, we took the time to compare the Honda Passport and Chevrolet Equinox so you can have more time test-driving than researching.

Being the first thing most car buyers look for, you won’t be caught short on safety features in the Passport. For those in the front seat, the shoulder belts are height adjustable to provide a better fit while preventing injuries and increasing comfort. The Equinox doesn’t have adjustable seat belts, so what you see (or feel) is what you’re stuck with. The driver and front passenger are also better protected with the Passports smart airbags, which deploy at different levels of force depending on the passenger's size, thanks to the speed and seat sensors. Other safety features include the Honda Sensing®, which is a suite of driver assistive technologies that keep you and everyone on the road safe by making you more aware with features like a Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System™, and more!

Next up on any car buyers list, is how well a vehicle can perform and its fuel economy. Compared to the Equinox, the Passport’s 3.5 SOHC V6 produces 110 more horsepower compared to the Chevy’s 1.5 turbo 4 cylinder, and 28 more horsepower when compared to the Equinox’s optional 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. The only downside is that you would no longer have an excuse for being late to work. When it comes to fuel economy, the Passport has an engine control system which is capable of shutting down half of the engine’s cylinders, which further improves fuel efficiency. And buying fuel is easier on the wallet too, because this Honda only requires regular gas for optimum performance, while the Equinox suggests premium for maximum efficiency.

Paired well with engine power, is the Passports incredible suspension and handling system. With stabilizer bars located in the front and rear, you’ll be able to have more control while keeping the SUV flat while cornering. And the 3.6 inches longer wheelbase than the Chevy means your ride in the Honda will be smoother and more stable. As icing on the cake, you’ll be happy to know that if you want to take the boat onto the lake this summer, that’s possible in the Passport because its standard towing capacity is 3,500 pounds, while maximum trailer towing is a whopping 5,000 pounds! The Equinox though, only has a standard towing capacity of 1500lbs, and maximum trailer towing of 3500lbs.
