We’re hitting the three “S’s” in today’s topic for the 2019 Honda Civic in Clear Lake, which are safety, suspension, and service. Together, these three work to provide you with an incredible overall experience, so without wasting any more time, here are a few safety features you need to know about.
It’s a given that when dusk hits or before the sun rises, you’ll have your lights on to illuminate the road, but have you ever thought about having your headlights on during the day? The Civic comes standard with Daytime Running Lights, which makes it more visible under all conditions, and studies conducted by the Canadian government concluded that driving with daytime running lights decreases accidents by 11%! The Sentra doesn’t offer Daytime Running Lights, so you wouldn’t have that extra protection if you went with Nissan. Unfortunately, no matter how prepared you are, an accident can happen to anyone, and sometimes you won’t be able to call for help. But when you’re in the Civic Sport Sedan, Coupe, EX, EX-L, or Touring, you won’t have to worry about that thanks to HondaLink Assist. This feature uses a GPS receiver and cellular system to alert and send emergency responders to your location if the airbags deploy. The Sentra doesn’t have this incredible GPS response system, so help might not come as quickly if you’re in an accident and can’t call for help.
For the second “S” of the day, we move on to suspension and handling, which is critical for a superior ride and handling capabilities. The Civic has independent suspensions for both the front and rear, allowing the wheels to better grip the pavement without sacrificing comfort. For when the weather gets a little dicey, the Civic can automatically compensate for less than favorable road conditions with the drift compensation steering, to help keep you on the straight and narrow. To make it a trifecta, the average width between the wheels on the Civic is a half inch wider in the front and a little more than one inch in the rear, to provide even more handling and stability. None of these features can be found on the Sentra, and the wheels sit a little closer together, making it less stable.
Moving on to the final “S,” we’re going into just how easy it is to maintain the Honda Civic. In a standard car battery, you have to check the water level in the battery’s cells to ensure there’s no damage, but the Civic has a maintenance-free battery for a long life span. And Smart Maintenance is a super convenient feature that comes standard, which saves you time and money by calculating when you need specific maintenance done like oil changes, radiator flush and transmission fluid replacement based on actual driving conditions. So there’s no need to keep a journal or try to guess when you need work done, this Civic will tell you!
