What is AirCheck Texas Drive a Clean Machine?
To help clean up the air quality in the Houston-Galveston area, the Houston-Galveston Area Council through their AirCheck program provides financial assistance for eligible residents to replace or repair their vehicles. The names "Drive a Clean Machine" and "AirCheck Texas Repair and Replacement" mean the same program.
How Do I Get Started?
After submitting the form below, an application for an Aircheck Texas voucher may be downloaded in English, Spanish, or Vietnamese. The application must be printed, signed, and submitted to the Aircheck Texas office for verification. Fax or mail your completed application and include proof of income for all adults in your household along with the failed Vehicle Inspection Report. The mailing address and fax number are listed on the application.
If you are eligible, Aircheck Texas will send a voucher to your mailing address with instructions on how to use it, along with a list of participating repair facilities. If you are not eligible, they will send you a letter describing why you are unable to receive a Aircheck Texas voucher.

Vehicle Requirements for Repair Assistance
- Failed an emissions test within 30 days of submitting your application
- Gasoline powered and between 2 - 24 years old;
- Currently registered and has been registered in your participating county area for at least 12 of the 15 months immediately preceding the date of the application;
- Passed the safety portion of the DPS motor-vehicle safety and emissions inspection, and driven under its own power to the inspection station.
